118. A Child of the King

1 A child of the King! O calling divine!
What riches of grace and glory are thine,
Thy portion of all then joyfully claim,
O child of the King, he calls thee by name.

Chorus:
A child of the King! be joyful and sing,
Be loyal and loving, Thou child of the King.

2 A child of the King! a child of the King!
Then how can thy heart to earthliness cling?
He calls thee his own, oh, marvel of love!
Thy life should be hid with the Father above. [Chorus]

3 A child of the King! thy Father supplies,
In wisdom and love, thy wants as they rise,
He knoweth thy way, he watches on high,
No harm can befall, no evil come nigh. [Chorus]

4 A royal degree, a child of the King!
At last to his home, his own he will bring,
Thy toil and thy care forgotten shall be,
Made like unto him, his face thou shalt see. [Chorus]
