217. Lily of Hope

1 Fair are thy blossoms, O lily of hope,
Bringing to mortals their message of joy,
That worldly strivings for greed or for gain,
Ne’er can quite blot from the heart or destroy.

Refrain:
Bloom, Easter lily, emblem of hope,
Tell of the Saviour who rose today!
Bloom, Easter lily, bloom sweet and fair,
For Christ has saved us from death’s dark sway.

2 Blossoms so pure, in thy garments of white,
Speak to the world of the hope that was born,
When the Redeemer arose from the grave,
Victor o’er death on that on that first Easter morn. [Refrain]

3 Bloom in thy beauty, O lilies of hope,
Waken our souls from the darkness to light,
Help us remember through sorrow or sin,
That Christ arose on this morning so bright. [Refrain]
