Author (stanza 1): | John Gambold |
Author (stanza 2,3): | Charles Wesley, 1707-1788 |
Author (stanza 4): | Frederick William Foster |
Tune: | HERRNHUT |
Composer: | J. Thommen |
1 They who Jesus’ followers are
and enjoy his faithful care,
by a mutual, hearty love
their belief in Jesus prove.
2 By your reconciling love
ev'ry stumbling-block remove;
each to each unite, endear;
come, and spread your banner here.
3 Let us each for others care,
Each another's burden bear,
To your church a pattern give,
showing how believers live.
4 May it to the world appear
that we your disciples are
by our loving mutually,
by our Christian unity.
