Bernard Richards (1883-1954), full name Bernard Noble Richards, attorney and author; born in Blount County, Alabama; moved with his family to Texas circa 1890; co-owner of Cushing Timber and Lumber Company; partner with Sharp McNiel in the McNeil-Richards Music Company; moved to Dalhart, Texas circa 1912; served six years as district attorney of the 69th judicial district; Sunday School Superintendent of the First Baptist Church of Dalhart for 35 years; author of “Texas Lawyer” (Pageant Press, 1953); wrote several hymns and at least one tune. Died of acute coronary thrombosis in Dalhart, Texas in 1954.
