My trust is in the Lord

Hymnal: Trinity Hymnal #48 (1961) Meter: 6.6.8.6 Topics: God All-seeing Lyrics: 1 My trust is in the Lord: How say ye then to me, "Now like a bird from peril haste, And to your mountain flee?" 2 Lo, sinners bend the bow With arrow fixed for flight; And stealthily in darkness go The true in heart to smite. 3 What can the righteous do, What can for them avail, When all foundations are destroyed, And all the pillars fail? 4 The Lord in Zion dwells, The Lord is throned on high; His eyes behold the sons of men Their hearts and ways to try. 5 The Lord the righteous proves; But those who scorn the right, Who love deceit and violence Are hateful in his sight. 6 For righteous is the Lord, He loveth righteousness, And with a gracious countenance The upright he will bless. Amen. Scripture: Psalm 11:1-5 Languages: English Tune Title: AYLESBURY

'Twas from thy hand, my God, I came

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: The Psalms and Hymns of Dr. Watts #56 (1835) Meter: 8.8.8.8 Topics: All-seeing God; God All-seeing Lyrics: 'Twas from thy hand, my God, I came, A work of such a curious frame In me thy fearful wonders shine, And each proclaims thy skill divine. Thine eyes did all my limbs survey, Which yet in dark confusion lay; Thou saw'st the daily growth they took, Formed by the model of thy book. By thee my growing parts were named, And what thy sovereign counsels framed- The breathing lungs, the beating heart- Was copied with unerring art. At last, to show my Maker's name, God stamped his image on my frame, And in some unknown moment joined The finished members to the mind. There the young seeds of thought began, And all the passions of the man: Great God, our infant nature pays Immortal tribute to thy praise. Lord, since in my advancing age I've acted on life's busy stage, Thy thoughts of love to me surmount The power of numbers to recount. I could survey the ocean o'er, And count each sand that makes the shore, Before my swiftest thoughts could trace The num'rous wonders of thy grace. These on my heart are still impressed, With these I give my eyes to rest; And at my waking hour I find God and his love possess my mind. Scripture: Psalm 139 Languages: English

When I with pleasing wonder stand

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: The Psalms and Hymns of Dr. Watts #57 (1835) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Topics: All-seeing God; God All-seeing Lyrics: When I with pleasing wonder stand, And all my frame survey, Lord, 'tis thy work I own thy hand Thus built my humble clay. Thy hand my heart and reins possessed Where unborn nature grew; Thy wisdom all my features traced, And all my members drew. Thine eye with nicest care surveyed The growth of every part; Till the whole scheme thy thoughts had laid Was copied by thy art. Heav'n, earth, and sea, and fire, and wind, Show me thy wondrous skill But I review myself, and find Diviner wonders still. Thy aweful glories round me shine, My flesh proclaims thy praise; Lord, to thy works of nature join Thy miracles of grace. Scripture: Psalm 139 Languages: English

Oh, who is it like the Mighty One

Author: Moir Hymnal: The Voice of Praise #64 (1873) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Topics: Attributes of God Omniscience; Supreme and All-seeing Lyrics: Oh, who is like the Mighty One, Whose throne is in the sky? Who compasseth the universe With his all-searching eye; At whose creative word appeared The dry land and the sea: My spirit thirsts for thee, O Lord, My spirit thirsts for thee! 2 Around him suns and systems swim In harmony and light; Before him, harps angelic hymn His praises day and night. Yet to the contrite, night and day, In mercy turneth he: My spirit thirsts for thee, O Lord, My spirit thirsts for thee! 3 Yea! though his works are infinite, His power upholds them all; He clothes the lilies of the field, And marks the sparrow's fall. Who listens to the raven's cry, Will bend his ear to me: My spirit thirsts for thee, O Lord, My spirit thirsts for thee! Scripture: Psalm 63:8

Great God, how infinite art Thou!

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Book of Worship with Hymns and Tunes #97 (1899) Topics: God All-seeing Lyrics: 1 Great God, how infinite art Thou! How frail and weak are we! Let the whole race of creatures bow And pay their praise to Thee. 2 Thy throne eternal ages stood, Ere earth or heaven was made; Thou art the ever-living God, Were all the nations dead. 3 Nature and time all open lie To Thine immense survey, From the formation of the sky To the last awful day. 4 Eternity, with all its years, Stands present to Thy view; To Thee there's nothing old appears, To Thee there's nothing new. 5 Our lives through various scenes are drawn, And vexed with trifling cares; While Thine eternal thought moves on Thine undisturbed affairs. Amen. Languages: English Tune Title: DUNDEE
