249. O Sinner, Where Will You Stand?

1 When the overflowing scourge is passing swiftly o'er the land,
When the tow'rs of human strength are falling thick on ev'ry hand;
When the clouds hang dark and heavy,
and the angry thunders roar,
When the sun of earthly hope shall set,
shall set to rise no more:

Refrain:
O sinner, where will you stand?
O brother, where will you stand?
Have you made the Lord your refuge,
are you hidden in His word?
Are you leaning, are you leaning on the Lord?

2 When from heav'n to earth descending
shall the King of glory come;
When the nations, long so sinful,
shall approach their awful doom;
In the solemn separation
that the Lord shall make that day,
Will you stand with Christ,
or will you with the wicked go away. [Refrain]

3 There's an everlasting kingdom
that in glory yet shall stand;
And thro' Christ, at His next coming,
Shall the meek possess the land;
When the wicked shall be stubble,
then shall God's own people reign,
And their Lord shall dwell among them,
when He comes to earth again. [Refrain]
