Lord, as Thou Wilt, Deal Thou with Me

Author: Kaspar Bienemann; Emanuel Cronenwett Hymnal: LH1941 #406 (1941) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.8.7 Person Name: Kaspar Bienemann Lyrics: 1 Lord, as Thou wilt, deal Thou with me; No other wish I cherish. In life and death I cling to Thee; Oh, do not let me perish! Let not Thy grace from me depart And grant an ever patient heart To bear what Thou dost send me. 2 Grant honor, truth, and purity, And love Thy Word to ponder; From all false doctrine keep me free. Bestow, both here and yonder, What serves my everlasting bliss; Preserve me from unrighteousness Thro'out my earthly journey. 3 When, at Thy summons, I must leave This vale of sin and sadness, Give me Thy grace, Lord, not to grieve, But to depart with gladness. To Thee my spirit I commend; O Lord, grant me a blessed end Thro' Jesus Christ, my Savior. Amen. Jesus, I Will Ponder Now

Author: August Crull, d. 1923; Sigismund v. Birken Hymnal: LH1941 #140 (1941) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Person Name: Sigismund v. Birken Lyrics: 1 Jesus, I will ponder now On Thy holy Passion; With Thy Spirit me endow For such meditation. Grant that I in love and faith May the image cherish Of Thy suff'ring, pain, and death That I may not perish. 2 Make me see Thy great distress, Anguish, and affliction, Bonds and stripes and wretchedness And Thy crucifixion; Make me see how scourge and rod, Spear and nails, did wound Thee, How for man Thou diedst, O God, Who with thorns had crowned Thee. 3 Yet, O Lord, not thus alone Make me see Thy Passion, But its cause to me make known And its termination. Ah! I also and my sin Wrought Thy deep affliction; This indeed the cause hath been Of Thy crucifixion. 4 Grant that I Thy Passion view With repentant grieving Nor Thee crucify anew By unholy living. How could I refuse to shun Ev'ry sinful pleasure Since for me God's only Son Suffered without measure? 5 If my sins give me alarm And my conscience grieve me, Let Thy cross my fear disarm, Peace of conscience give me. Grant that I may trust in Thee And Thy holy Passion. If His Son so loveth me, God must have compassion. 6 Grant that I may willingly Bear with Thee my crosses, Learning humbleness of Thee, Peace mid pain and losses. May I give Thee love for love! Hear me, O my Savior, That I may in heaven above Sing Thy praise forever. Amen. Topics: The Church Year Lent Scripture: Luke 18:31-34 Languages: English Tune Title: JESU KREUZ, LEIDEN UND PEIN

Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus

Author: Sigismund von Birken; J. Adam Rimbach Hymnal: LH1941 #409 (1941) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7.7.8.7.7 Person Name: Sigismund von Birken Lyrics: 1 Let us ever walk with Jesus, Follow His example pure, Flee the world, which would deceive us And to sin our souls allure. Ever in His footsteps treading, Body here, yet soul above, Full of faith and hope and love, Let us do the Father's bidding. Faithful Lord, abide with me; Savior, lead, I follow Thee. 2 Let us suffer here with Jesus, To His image e'er conform; Heaven's glory soon will please us, Sunshine follow on the storm. Tho' we sow in tears of sorrow, We shall reap with heav'nly joy; And the fears that now annoy Shall be laughter on the morrow. Christ, I suffer here with Thee; There, oh, share Thy joy with me! 3 Let us also die with Jesus. His death from the second death, From our soul's destruction, frees us, Quickens us with life's glad breath. Let us mortify, while living, Flesh and blood and die to sin; And the grave that shuts us in Shall but prove the gate to heaven. Jesus, here I die to Thee There to live eternally. 4 Let us gladly live with Jesus; Since He's risen from the dead, Death and grave must soon release us. Jesus, Thou art now our Head, We are truly Thine own members; Where Thou livest, there live we. Take and own us constantly, Faithful Friend, as Thy dear brethren. Jesus, here I live to Thee, Also there eternally. Amen. Topics: Sanctification (The Christian Life) New Obedience Scripture: John 11:16 Languages: English Tune Title: LASSET UNS MIT JESU ZICHEN
