Rejoice in God's saints, today and all days!

Author: Frederick Pratt Green (1903-2000) Meter: 10.10.11.11 Appears in 19 hymnals Scripture: Revelation 7:9-14 Lyrics: 1 Rejoice in God's saints, today and all days! A world without saints forgets how to praise. Their faith in acquiring the habit of prayer, their depth of adoring, Lord, help us to share. 2 Some march with events to turn them God's way; some need to withdraw, the better to pray; some carry the gospel through fire and through flood: our world is their parish: their purpose is God. 3 Rejoice in those saints, unpraised and unknown, who bear someone's cross, or shoulder their own: they share our complaining, our comforts, our cares: what patience in caring, what courage, is theirs! 4 Rejoice in God's saints, today and all days! A world without saints forgets how to praise. In loving, in living, they prove it is true: the way of self-giving, Lord, leads us to you. Your Lord and King adore. Rejoice, give thanks and sing And triumph evermore. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice. Rejoice, again I say, rejoice! 2 His kingdom cannot fail; He rules o'er earth and heav'n; The keys of death and hell To Christ the Lord are giv'n. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice. Rejoice, again I say, rejoice! 3 He sits at God's right hand Till all his foes submit, Bow down at his command, And fall beneath his feet. Lift up your heart, lift up your voice. Rejoice, again I say, rejoice! 4 Rejoice in glorious hope; For Christ, the Judge, shall come To gather all his saints To their eternal home. We soon shall hear the archangel's voice; The trump of God shall sound, rejoice! Rev. 7:13-17: How bright these glorious spirits shine!

Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 156 hymnals Scripture: Revelation 7:13-17 First Line: How bright these glorious spirits shine! Lyrics: How bright these glorious spirits shine! whence all their white array? How came they to the blissful seats of everlasting day? Lo! these are they from suff’rings great, who came to realms of light, And in the blood of Christ have washed those robes which shine so bright. Now, with triumphal palms, they stand before the throne on high, And serve the God they love, amidst the glories of the sky. His presence fills each heart with joy, tunes ev’ry mouth to sing: By day, by night, the sacred courts with glad hosannahs ring. 150 Hunger and thirst are felt no more, nor suns with scorching ray; God is their sun, whose cheering beams diffuse eternal day. The Lamb which dwells amidst the throne shall o’er them still preside; Feed them with nourishment divine, and all their footsteps guide. ’Mong pastures green he’ll lead his flock, where living streams appear; And God the Lord from ev’ry eye shall wipe off ev’ry tear.

Robed in White

Author: I. C. Showerman Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Revelation 7:9 First Line: Who are these, robed in white Refrain First Line: They shall hunger no more Lyrics: 1 Who are these, robed in white, who in glory appear, Countless throngs from the east and the west— With bright palms in their hands, and their robes snowy white? Whence come they to mansions of rest? Refrain: They shall hunger no more, they shall thirst no more, Neither faint in the sun’s burning ray; And the Lamb of God, in the midst of the throne, Shall wipe their tears away. [Refrain] 2 Up through sorrow and tears they have battled their way, These are they who have conquered the foe; And their robes they have washed in the blood of the Lamb, And now they are white as the snow. [Refrain] 3 Through earth’s deserts they’ve come, through the fire and the flame, With strong arms they have breasted the flood; Day and night by His throne, in His temple they serve, And bathe in the glory of God. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [Who are these, robed in white]
