Benjamin Copeland

1855 - 1940 Author of "Our Fathers' God, to Thee We Raise" in The Cyber Hymnal Born: June 14, 1855, Clar­en­don, New York. Died: De­cem­ber 1, 1940, Buf­fa­lo, New York. A Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal min­is­ter, Cope­land served 22 churche­s in west­ern New York state over the course of 42 years. He found­ed five church­es, four of which were in Buf­fa­lo. In 1892, he be­came se­cre­ta­ry of the Meth­od­ist Un­ion, and in 1918, Syr­a­cuse Un­i­ver­si­ty gave him an hon­or­a­ry STD de­gree. He re­tired in Buf­fa­lo in 1919. --www.hymntime.com/tch/
