Representative Text

1 Abounding grace I sing today,
The grace that saves and cleanses me;
The stain of guilt it washed away,
The pard’ning love is full and free.

Refrain:
Cleansed by grace divine!
Grace, and grace alone,
Saves this guilty soul of mine,
And makes me His alone.

2 The Lord of love and life and light,
My ransom paid on Calv’ry’s cross;
My crimson sin He washes white,
For Him I count all else but loss. [Refrain]

3 Thro’ all the generations past,
The grace of Christ has purified
Repentant souls, content to cast
Their sin and guilt on Him who died. [Refrain]

4 The grace divine that cleanseth me,
Will still outlast all coming days,
And sinful souls, made pure and free,
Shall fill the courts above with praise. [Refrain]
