Diese Welt ist eine Wüste

Representative Text

1 Diese Welt ist eine Wüste,
Wo ich nichts zu wählen wüßte,
Wo ich nichts zu suchen hab'.
Habe nichts hier zu betrauern,
Zu verlieren, zu bedauern,
Brauche nichts als einen Wanderstab.

2 Scharf bezeichnet, klar zu sehen
Ist der Weg, den ich zu gehen,
Weil mein Jesus ging voran.
Ja, so sicher wie Sein Lieben
Ist Sein Weg, der hier geblieben,
Furchtlos schreit' ich fort auf Seiner Bahn.

3 In der Wüste, wo wir gehen,
Ist ein Fußpfad nur zu sehen:
Seiner Füße Spur im Sand.
Und ich folge, ja, ich eile,
Daß ich bald die Sitze teile,
Wo Er siegreich Seine Krone fand.

4 Du, mein Jesus in der Höhe,
Bist's, auf den ich wartend sehe,
Bis Du kommst entgegen mir;
Dem die Heimat Du bereitet,
Den Dein Auge hat geleitet
Durch die öde, weite Wüste hier.

5 Bis dahin, auf allen Tritten,
Ist der Pfad, den Du geschritten,
Stets mein Trost und meine Freud'.
Bin mit Deinem Stab zufrieden,
Bis, von diesem Staub geschieden,
Ich Dich droben schau' in Herrlichkeit.
