Prayer for National Gratitude and Holiness

Representative Text

1 Lord, let Thy goodness lead our land,
Still saved by Thine almighty hand,
The tribute of its love to bring
To Thee, our Savior and our King.

2 Let ev'ry sacred temple raise
Triumphant songs of holy praise;
Let ev'ry heart and ev'ry home
A temple, Lord, to Thee become.

3 Still be it our supreme delight
To walk as in Thy glorious sight;
Still in Thy precepts and Thy fear,
Till life's last hour, to persevere.

Amen.

Notes

Lord, let Thy goodness lead our land. On p. 1578, i., this hymn is said to be taken from P. Doddridge's hymn, No. 369, in his Hymns, 1755. This is an error. It is from his "Salvation doth to God belong," p. 1589, i. 11.
