Rae E. Whitney Since the late 1970s the poet Rae Whitney has focused on her hymn text writing. Her hymn texts have been included in denominational hymnals such as The Hymnal 1982 (Episcopal), The Presbyterian Hymnal (1990), and The Baptist Hymnal. Eight of Rae's texts were published in Selah Publishing Co.'s Songs of Rejoicing (1989), and 26 were published in Selah's New Songs of Rejoicing (1994). Selah has also published a collection of Rae's texts entitled With Joy our Spirits Sing (1995) and a second volume Under the Fig Tree: More Hymns and a Few Poems (2007). Rae E.
