Representative Text

1 There is a Friend, a patient Friend,
Who loved us long ago;
And laid aside his royal crown,
That wondrous love to show.

Refrain:
He’s just the same today,
Yes, the very same today,
As when he said “I am the true and living Way;”
O come and trust him now,
O trust him while you may,
He’s just the same today, the same today.

2 Upon the cross his precious blood
For all he freely gave;
He rose triumphant from the tomb,
And lives the world to save. [Refrain]

3 The same who stood with lifted hands,
And blessed his faithful few;
Then in a cloud was taken up,
And parted from their view. [Refrain]

4 The same who yet shall come again,
And we shall see his face;
And when we meet him in the skies,
We’ll shout redeeming grace. [Refrain]
