Representative Text

1 Welcome, welcome, royal winter,
All in white and crystal dressed,
King at last of all the seasons,
Wearing jewels on thy breast.

Refrain:
Winter, winter, royal winter,
Pulses tingle, hearts are light;
Praises to the gracious Giver,
For the season cold and bright.

2 Softly, softly falls the covering
Of the white and glistening snow;
Seeds of grain and flower rootlets,
Hide in safety far below. [Refrain]

3 When for me life’s winter cometh,
May my heart but stronger grow;
May the fruits in autumn gathered,
Last thro’ all the time of snow. [Refrain]
