When Jesus taught by GalileeAuthor: Timothy Dudley-Smith

When Jesus taught by Galilee
he called disciples to his side,
his friends and followers to be,
to spread his gospel far and wide:
the word of life we still proclaim,
baptizing in the threefold Name.
That Name declares a Father's love,
a covenant of grace and care,
an everlasting home above,
a family on earth to share,
beloved and precious in his sight,
who walk as children of the light.
The Name of Christ becomes our own,
our sovereign Lord and Saviour now,
to follow him, and him alone,
whose sign is printed on our brow;
his service share, his cause defend,
and so continue to the end.
We bear the Holy Spirit's Name,
who life and truth and power imparts,
who comes, as once in wind and flame,
to make his home within our hearts;
and daily in our lives increase
his fruit of love, and joy and peace.
So in the threefold Name today
baptized in faith from all our sins,
we turn to Christ, our Truth and Way,
the Life in whom our life begins;
to Christ who saves and sets us free,
his followers and friends to be.
