101. Blest Eden

1 Afar from the turmoil of life’s busy sway,
Midst splendors of Heaven’s bright glorious day;
The valleys of Eden, with riches untold,
Are waiting our coming, their joys to unfold.

Refrain:
O Eden, blest Eden, with valleys so fair,
O Eden, blest Eden, we long to be there,
Midst flow’rs that are blooming, where God is the light;
Eternal Thy morning, obscuring the night.

2 The lull of a stream, from a clear crystal fount;
The perfume of rose, from an evergreen mount;
The Saviour’s sweet presence the angels anear,
Fill Eden with rapture of praises and cheer. [Refrain]

3 In Eden, the garden; sweet home of the soul,
Beyond earthly tempests and billows dark roll;
The saints, in the glory of Jesus their King,
Their voices in praises so cheerfully ring. [Refrain]

4 O home of our longing, O Saviour divine,
Thine ear to our praying, O ever incline;
Send some of the blessings which Eden can give,
To children of earth, while they faithfully live. [Refrain]
