47. Let me go; the day is breaking

1 Let me go; the day is breaking—
See, night’s shadows haste away!
Why should’st thou detain me longer?
Loose thy hold, I must away?
Let Thee go! No! never, never!
Till a blessing Thou bestow;
Though the sun rise high in heaven,
Yet I will not let Thee go!

2 Thy command is, “Be ye holy!”
Now the cleansing blood apply,
From my heart remove the sin-stains;
Jesus, let me feel Thee nigh.
In that precious crimson fountain,
Opened in Thy wounded side,
Let me plunge, then shall I ever
In Thy perfect love abide.

3 Speak the word, for Thou hast power,
“Be thou clean!” I hear Thee say;
Jesus speaks! ‘tis done! Oh, glory!
Every stain is washed away!
Gladly now I’ll do and suffer
All my blessed Master’s will;
Come to Jesus; trust him fully;
He his promise will fulfill.
