49. Draw Near and Take

1 Draw near and take the body of your Lord,
and drink with faith the blood for you outpoured.

2 Saved by his body, hallowed by his blood,
with souls refreshed, we give our thanks to God.

3 Salvation's giver, Christ, the only Son,
by his dear cross and blood the victory won.

4 Let us approach with faithful hearts sincere,
and take the pledges of salvation here.

5 The Lord in this world rules his saints, and shields;
to all believers life eternal yields;

6 with heavenly bread makes those who hunger whole;
gives living waters to the thirsting soul.

8 Before your presence, Lord, all people bow.
In this your feast of love be with us now.
