71. To Thee, O Heavenly Father

1 To thee, O heavenly Father,
We raise our hearts in prayer.
Be with us as we gather;
Thine ear incline and hear.
O, grant to every nation
From thy great throne above
A better realization
Of thy most perfect love.

2 Endue us with thy Spirit:
May we in thee abide,
That we may all inherit
A place by thy dear side!
O, Lord, may we in wisdom
Obey thy law divine
That we may seek thy kingdom
And be forever thine.

3 O, haste the day of promise
When all the earth shall be
Forever free from malice:
Content to follow thee!
Then men shall come confessing
And strife and wars shall cease
And we shall know the blessing
Of thy eternal peace.
