1 A priceless Gift to men was giv’n,
That happy Christmas night,
When Christ, the Prince of Peace, was born,
To be a dark world’s light.
The door of heaven opened wide,
That angels fair might sing,
To shepherds watching o’er their flocks,
Of earth’s anointed King.

Lead us o’er paths, o’er paths Thy feet have trod,

2 That priceless Gift from God above,
So sweetly sleeping lay,
Pressed close unto a mother’s breast,
Around them fragrant hay,
That shepherds come to seek their King,
Knelt down in wond’ring awe,
Before the vision of repose,
Which they that moment saw. [Refrain]

3 That priceless Gift of love divine,
Is born anew today,
In every land where Christ, our King,
