This song is a gentle but forthright confession of faith that develops into a broad Trinitarian doxology. The first two stanzas speak of the redemptive work of Jesus; the final verse gives a glimpse of heaven. The refrain overflows with thanksgiving the way Paul does in his Epistles.
 
The power of this song is cloaked in vulnerability and simplicity. Its gentle folk quality is particularly well suited to acoustic guitar and flute; a light keyboard will work, too. As each refrain shifts from speaking of God to speaking to God, lend support through increased volume and thicker texture in the accompaniment.

Melody Green (b. 1946), daughter of a faithful Jewish mother and a non-practicing Methodist father, grew up searching for spiritual meaning. After college, she met aspiring musician Keith Green, and a year late they were married. Ater attending a Bible study, both Melody and Keith gave their lives to Jesus, and their lives were radically changed. They opened up their house to people with drug addictions or unplanned pregnancies, and before long had rented six more homes to house everyone in their growing community. In 1979 they moved their ministry to a ranch in East Texas, and Last Days Ministries was born. In July, 1982, at the age of twenty-eight, Keith and two of their small children were tragically killed in a plane crash. Melody, a single mom, continued to lead Last Days Ministries and became an active leader and participant in non-violent, pro-Life demonstrations. Melody has travelled around the world, met with Mother Theresa and numerous American presidents, and continues to oversee LDM from her home in Kansas City, Missouri.
