22. There is a joy that fills my soul

1 There is a joy that fills my soul,
All other joy excelling;
For he, my Saviour, deigns to make
My humble heart his dwelling.

Refrain:
From step to step, from strength to strength.
From glory on to glory;
I'll shout aloud redeeming grace,
And tell the wondrous story.

2 A wanderer lost, and far from home,
My blessed Saviour found me;
With cords of love my soul he drew,
And to his fold he bound me. [Refrain]

3 And now by faith with him I walk,
He leads the way before me;
Protects me still from every ill,
And spreads his banner o'er me. [Refrain]

4 Oh, when at last my sails are furled
Beyond the Jordan's river;
His love to me my song shall be,
Forever and forever. [Refrain]
