48. O sinner, come list to the voice

1 O sinner, come list to the voice
That maketh the weary rejoice!
God promises life to the one
Who simply believes on His Son.

Refrain:
Believe it, believe it!
God’s message of mercy receive;
His promise means you,
And His promise is true;
O look unto Christ and believe!

2 O why do you stand at the gate,
And question, and falter, and wait?
What Jesus hath said, can you doubt?
He says He will not cast you out. [Refrain]

3 You trust in the truth of a friend:
On man’s feeble promise depend;
O can you not rest on the Word
Of Jesus, the glorified Lord? [Refrain]

4 He died as a ransom for all;
He saves whosoever will call;
O call on Him now, and receive
The blessing of those who believe! [Refrain]
