53. We Look for a City

1 The King in His beauty upon the white throne,
The thousands before him he claims as His own;
The song of redemption, the harps of full play,
O prospect transporting to cheer on the way.

Refrain:
We look for a city of beauty and song,
The saint’s everlasting above.
A wonderful city that hath foundations,
Whose builder and maker is God.

2 The pastures of plenty the rivers so clear,
The great tree of healing, invitingly near;
The grand dome above with its radiant glow,
O prospect transporting for pilgrims below. [Refrain]

3 The mansions of glory surpassingly fair,
The beautiful raiment, the glorified wear;
The crowns of rejoicing from Jesus our friend,
O prospect transporting to cheer to the end. [Refrain]
