American abolitionist Maria Weston Chapman was editor of Songs of the Free and Hymns of Christian Freedom (1836), with which the DNAH information concurs. She also wrote some of the hymn texts in that book.

However, in the database here, she is also credited with several hymns by Mrs. E. W. Chapman (Anzentia Igene Perry Chapman, according to the Cyber Hymnal).

These appear to be two different people.

Yes, they are two different people. However, the DNAH information may have mistakenly attributed some hymns written by E. W. to Maria. Where we have page scans that say "Mrs. E. W. Chapman" I have corrected the information. However, for hymnal instances, we use the author given in the hymnal and we have not yet checked all the hymnals.
