Doyle, Mary. (Kansas City, Missouri, December 17, 1876--November 2, 1964, Toronto, Ontario). Roman Catholic. University of Toronto, B.A.; University of Chicago, M.A. in Italian; her thesis, "The Sources of the Divine Comedy," was published, and long considered the standard work in the field. On joining the Sisters of Loretto (I.B.V.M.) in 1897, she took the name of Mother M. Berchmans. After teaching in her Order's schools at Hamilton, Toronto, and Niagara Falls (all in Ontario), and Chicago, she came in 1929 to Loretto College, University of Toronto, where she taught Romance languages until her retirement.
