35. A Little While

1 A little while and then our weary feet,
Will tread the shore where sorrow cannot dwell;
A little while and then to join the choirs,
Where songs of praise and triumph ever swell.

Refrain:
Earth frowns a while, then heaven smiles,
Trust on, O heart, 'tis but a little while.

2 A little while then raptured we shall stand,
With glad immortals mid a blood-washed throng;
A little while, earth's sorrows will be past,
And we shall chant the everlasting song. [Refrain]

3 A little while and then reunion sweet,
With loved ones who have journeyed on before;
A little while, their hands to clasp again,
No more to part upon that radiant shore. [Refrain]
