XXI. Regeneration

1 Lord, what are all the goods of earth,
Compared with the heav'nly birth;
The new-born soul brought home to Christ,
Who can the spirit no more resist.

2 When Christ has heal'd his sickly soul,
Apply'd his blood and made him whole,
That happy soul will ever praise
God's holy name through all his days.

3 Then Lord, he'll bless thy holy name,
With fear and love, a heav'nly frame
And love thee then with all his power
And grieve that he can love no more.

4 Then wisdom's ways are his delight,
He loves to trace them day and night;
He finds by blest exper'ence true,
The Lord is just and gracious too.

5 Then he will love God's holiness,
Humility will be his dress,
God's justice then, will brightly shine,
With heav'nly lustre all divine.
