73. For Christ's Sake

1 Oh, for the sake of Christ the King
Stretch form a helping hand;
Thy succor to the needy bring,
And cause the flow’rs of joy to spring
Across the desert land.

2 Be thine the falling tear to dry,
The word of love to say,
To tell the sad a Friend is nigh,
And comfort breathe where sprits sigh
Along life’s pilgrim way.

3 Then at the time of glory bright,
The King shall speak to thee,
“When to the heart in shades of night,
Ye bore the lamps of hope and light,
Ye did it unto me.”
