40. The Mansions of Light

1 O the mansions of light, blissful mansions of light,
We are coming their glory to see;
We are coming thro’ tempest, thro’ sorrow and night,
With the King in His beauty to be.

Refrain:
For we know if this house we inhabit today
Were dissolved in the depths of the tomb,
We’ve a building of God, in that land far away,
Where the Spring-time for ever shall bloom.

2 There no night spreads its mantle o’er valleys and hills,
Hiding beauties and glories untold;
There no winter shall silence the song of the rills,
And the dwellers shall never grow old. [Refrain]

3 Yet a little while here—for the wings of the years
Speed us on to that faraway shore—
Then away we shall fly from this valley of tears
To the land where they sorrow no more. [Refrain]
