130. Out In the Fields

1 Out in the field, dear Master,
Help us to take our place;
When we are toiling hardest
Draw we upon Thy grace.
Out with the faithful workers,
Sowing the gospel seed,
Seeking to save the lost ones,
Trying God’s sheep to feed.

Refrain:
Out in the fields, nor idle
May we a moment be;
Out where the Holy Spirit
Moves in great pow’r each day;
Out where they need salvation,
Out where they know not God,
Help us to god, dear Master,
Preaching Thy holy Word.

2 Show us Thy will, dear Master,
Where we each day should go;
Help us “beside all waters”
Faithfully seed to sow.
Help us in ev’ry season,
And out of season, too,
Do with our might each moment
What Thou wouldst have us do. [Refrain]

3 Knowing that time is hast’ning,
Knowing that souls are lost,
Help us to have compassion
On the great sinful host.
Knowing that Thine appearing
Cannot be far away,
Help us to work, dear Master,
Help us to watch and pray. [Refrain]
