174. Ring the Bells

1 Ring the bells for the royal birth,
Jesus, the Saviour, has come to earth;
Sing it with joy, ye sons of men,
Angels resound it back again.

Refrain:
Ring out, ye bells, this happy morn!
Christ, the Saviour, not is born;
Ring, ye chorus of bells, to tell
Of Christ the Lord Immanuel.

2 Ring the bells from afar and near,
Christ has arisen the world to cheer;
They in the gloom have seen a ray
Gleaming from Bethlehem today. [Refrain]

3 Ring the message to all the earth,
Summon the people to holy mirth;
Hasten the news of joy along,
Rending the sky with mighty song. [Refrain]

4 Swell the chorus of bells today,
Christ is beginning His kindly sway;
Sorrow and sin and woe shall cease,
Nations shall dwell in godly peace. [Refrain]
