Text: | The Bearer of Burdens |
Author: | Mrs. Frank A. Breck |
Tune: | [The Bearer of Burdens] |
Composer: | Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson Wakeman |
1 Oh, why should we sink ‘neath our burdens,
So weary and sad and distressed?
When Jesus has offered to bear them,
And promised to give us his rest.
Refrain:
Christ is the Bearer of burdens for me;
On him all my sorrows I roll;
He giveth the joy of this presence to be
The comforting peace of my soul.
2 No longer need trials oppress us,
Their chafing forever may cease;
For Christ took them with him to Calv’ry,
He, Lamb of atonement, our Peace. [Refrain]
3 Our hearts shall rejoice in his mercy,
And rest in the pow’r of his might;
He promised his yoke should be easy;
His burden, he said, should be light. [Refrain]
