There's a wideness in God's mercy

Author: Frederick William Faber, 1814-1863 Hymnal: Common Service Book of the Lutheran Church #A256 (1917) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 There's a wideness in God's mercy, Like the wideness of the sea; There's a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty. There is no place where earth's sorrows Are more felt than up in heaven; There is no place where earth's failings Have such kindly judgment given. 2 For the love of God is broader Than the measure of man's mind And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind. There is plentiful redemption In the Blood that has been shed; There is joy for all the members In the sorrows of the Head. 3 'Tis not all we owe to Jesus; It is something more than all; Greater good because of evil, Larger mercy through the fall. If our love were but more simple, We should take Him at His word; And our lives would be all sunshine In the sweetness of our Lord. Amen. Tune Title: ARMSTRONG

Hail, Thou Once Despised Jesus!

Author: John Bakewell Hymnal: Lutherförbundets Sångbok #E90 (1913) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 Hail, Thou once despised Jesus! Hail, Thou Galilean King! Thou didst suffer to release us; Thou didst free salvation bring. Hail! Thou agonizing Saviour, Bearer of our sin and shame! By Thy merits we find favor; Life is given thro' Thy Name. 2 Paschal Lamb, by God appointed, All our sins on Thee were laid; By almighty love anointed, Thou hast full atonement made. All Thy people are forgiven, Thro' the virtue of Thy blood: Opened is the gate of heaven; Peace is made 'twixt man and God. 3 Jesus, hail, enthroned in glory, There forever to abide! All the heav'nly hosts adore Thee, Seated at Thy Father's side: There for sinners Thou art pleading, There Thou dost our place prepare, Ever for us interceding, Till in glory we appear. 4 Worship, honor, pow'r, and blessing, Thou art worthy to receive; Loudest praises, without ceasing, Meet it is for us to give. Help, ye bright angelic spirits, Bring your sweetest, noblest lays, Help to sing our Saviour's merits, Help to chant Immanuel's praise. Come, Ye Sinners

Author: Joseph Hart Hymnal: Lutherförbundets Sångbok #E94 (1913) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D First Line: Come, ye sinners, poor and needy Lyrics: 1 Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, Weak and wounded, sick and sore, Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love, and pow'r. He is able, He is able, He is willing; doubt no more; He is able, He is able, He is willing; doubt no more. 2 Come, ye thirsty, come and welcome, God's free bounty glorify: True belief, and true repentance, Ev'ry grace that brings us nigh, Without money, without money, Come to Jesus Christ and buy; Without money, without money, Come to Jesus Christ and buy. 3 Let not conscience make you linger, Nor of fitness fondly dream; All the fitness He requireth, Is to feel your need of Him: This He gives you; this He gives you; 'Tis His Spirit's rising beam; This He gives you; this He gives you; 'Tis His Spirit's rising beam. 4 Agonizing in the garden, Lo, your Maker prostrate lies; On the blood-stained tree behold Him; Hear Him cry before He dies, "It is finished!" "It is finished!" Sinner, will not this suffice? "It is finished!" "It is finished!" Sinner, will not this suffice? 5 Lo! th'incarnate God, ascended, Pleads the merit of His blood: Venture to Him, venture wholly, Let no other trust intrude. None but Jesus, none but Jesus Can do helpless sinners good: None but Jesus, none but Jesus Can do helpless sinners good. Topics: Invitation Languages: English Tune Title: NETTLETON

Gå och tala om för Jesus

Author: A. v.

Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken

Author: John Newton Hymnal: Lutherförbundets Sångbok #E92 (1913) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God; He whose word cannot be broken, Formed thee for His own abode. On the Rock of Ages founded, What can shake thy sure repose? With salvation's walls surrounded, Thou may'st smile at all thy foes. 2 See the streams of living waters, Springing from eternal love, Well supply thy sons and daughters, And all fear of want remove. Who can faint, while such a river Ever flows their thirst t'assuage? Grace, which, like the Lord, the Giver, Never fails from age to age. 3 Saviour, if of Zion's city I, thro' grace, a member am, Let the world deride or pity, I will glory in Thy Name. Fading is the worldling's pleasure, All his boasted pomp and show; Solid joys and lasting treasure None but Zion's children know. Topics: Church Languages: English Tune Title: AUSTRIA
