Representative Text

1 I am trusting in the goodness of my Lord and King;
For a full and free salvation to His cross I cling;
Since He pardoned my transgressions I can sweetly sing,
For Jesus is a friend of mine.

Refrain:
Jesus is a friend of mine,
Yes, Jesus is a friend of mine;
Since His grace hath made me whole
There is glory in my soul,
For Jesus is a friend of mine.

2 I can calmly face the tempter on the battle field,
For the blessed gospel armor is my strength and shield;
With His precious love sustaining I shall never yield,
For Jesus is a friend of mine. [Refrain]

3 I shall do my Father’s bidding till my race is run,
When this earthly cross will vanish and my crown is won;
Angels then will give me welcome, work will all be done,
For Jesus is a friend of mine. [Refrain]
