Representative Text

1 My Lord and Savior, can it be
That Thou wilt make Thy home with me!
And enter my sin-burdened heart,
And never from my soul depart?

Refrain:
O Thou who art the sinner’s Friend,
Bow down Thine ear, my prayer attend;
Make Thou my heart Thy dwelling place,
Uphold and keep me by Thy grace.

2 Tho’ all unworthy of my Guest,
Tho’ sin and error stand confessed,
I must believe Thy spoken word—
“I will abide,” mine ears have heard. [Refrain]

3 And if in truth Thou’lt sup with me,
My inmost heart cleansed be;
O make it pure,—cast out all sin
That Christ indeed may enter in. [Refrain]
