Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me

Author: Edward Hopper Meter: 7.7.7.7.7.7 Appears in 1,173 hymnals Scripture: Mark 4:35-41 Lyrics: 1. Jesus, Savior, pilot me over life's tempestuous sea; unknown waves before me roll, hiding rock and treacherous shoal. Chart and compass came from thee; Jesus, Savior, pilot me. 2. As a mother stills her child, thou canst hush the ocean wild; boisterous waves obey thy will, when thou sayest to them, "Be still!" Wondrous sovereign of the sea, Jesus, Savior, pilot me. 3. When at last I near the shore, and the fearful breakers roar 'twixt me and the peaceful rest, then, while leaning on thy breast, may I hear thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee." Jesu, lover of my soul

Author: Charles Wesley, 1707-1788 Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 3,208 hymnals Scripture: Mark 4:37-39 Lyrics: 1 Jesu, lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly, while the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high: hide me, O my Saviour, hide, till the storm of life is past; safe into the haven guide, O receive my soul at last. 2 Other refuge have I none, hangs my helpless soul on thee; leave, ah, leave me not alone, still support and comfort me. All my trust on thee is stayed, all my help from thee I bring; cover my defenceless head with the shadow of thy wing. 3 Thou, O Christ, art all I want; more than all in thee I find; raise the fallen, cheer the faint, heal the sick, and lead the blind. Just and holy is thy name, I am all unrighteousness; false and full of sin I am, thou art full of truth and grace. 4 Plenteous grace with thee is found, grace to cover all my sin; let the healing streams abound, make and keep me pure within. Thou of life the fountain art: freely let me take of thee, spring thou up within my heart, rise to all eternity. Topics: Lent; Fourth Sunday Before Lent Year B; Ash Wednesday; Proper 17 Year C Used With Tune: HOLLINGSIDE

Thine I am, O spotless Lamb; I will suffer nought to hide thee, nought I ask beside thee. 2 In thine arms I rest me; foes who would molest me cannot reach me here. Though the earth be shaking, every heart be quaking, Jesus calms my fear. Sin and hell in conflict fell with their bitter storms assail me, Jesus will not fail me. 3 Hence, all fears and sadness, for the Lord of gladness, Jesus, enters in. Jesus, Sailing On the Sea

Author: Alan Gaunt Meter: 7.7.7.7 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Mark 4:35-41 Lyrics: 1 Jesus, sailing on the sea, through a storm on Galilee, on a cushion fast asleep, heedless of the raging deep: your disciples, full of dread, fearing they will soon be dead, shake you, crying in despair, "We are drowning! Don't you care?" 2 Soon, before the boat can spill, you are shouting, "Peace! Be still!" Now the wind and sea are calm, and the crew are safe from harm. You say, "Why are you afraid, why distraught and so dismayed? Is your trust in God so small; do you have no faith at all?" 3 Your disciples, filled with awe, say, "Who's known such things before? Who is this we've seen today, whom the wind and waves obey?" Lord, though we are frightened too by the harm the world can do, calm our fears when tempests rise; give us faith that never dies. Topics: Afflictions/Trials; Epiphany and Ministry of Christ ; Jesus Christ Miracles of; Protection Used With Tune: ABERYSTWYTH
