English Carols for Organ
Countless favorite Christmas traditions—the sights, the smells, the decorations—are all derived from Victorian England. And the practices of British caroling are certainly central to that holiday joy. Many of the popular carols that we sing today date back to the groups of serenaders called “waits” who traveled from town to town and house to house, spreading the holiday cheer. Mr. Martin’s bright and merry organ collection captures that Victorian spirit of “nowell”: memorable, distinctive, diverse, and so very special for the Christmas season.
