I'll Bear the Cross

Representative Text

1 Although a thorny road I tread,
I’ll trust in Jesus all the way,
A home of rest is just ahead,
Where I will live with Him some day.

Refrain:
I’ll journey on beneath the cross,
Till Jesus bids me lay it down;
I’ll shout and sing ‘mid pain and loss,
Till called where waits my fadeless crown.

2 Although the clouds obscure my sky,
And sorrow’s waves around me rise,
With Him who whispers, “It is I,”
I’ll dwell some day, ‘neath fairer skies. [Refrain]

3 Although the thorns now pierce my feet,
Along a rough and dreary road,
There is a rest and joy complete,
In my Redeemer’s bright above. [Refrain]
