1 على جبينِ المفتدي
يبدو سنا الجمالْ
ورأسُهُ مكلَّلٌ
بالمجدِ والجلالْ

2 وفيضُ نعمةٍ يُرى
في ثغرِهِ المنيرْ
فما له بين الورى
أو في السما نظيرْ

3 لما رأى الإنسانَ في
بحرِ الردى قد غاصْ
دنا إليه مسرعاً
بنعمةِ الخلاصْ

4 قد صار عني فديةً
مُخلصي الحبيبْ
إذ مات عني رافعاً
إثمي على الصليبْ

5 شكراً لمحيي عبدِهِ
ومصدرِ النصرِ
إذ حُزتُ مِن نعمتِهِ
نصراً على القبرِ

6 يُمناهُ تهديني إلى
منازلِ المجدِ
فمُهجتي أُهدي لهُ
وكلَّ ما عندي

Samuel Stennett was born at Exeter, in 1727. His father was pastor of a Baptist congregation in that city; afterwards of the Baptist Chapel, Little Wild Street, London. In this latter pastorate the son succeeded the father in 1758. He died in 1795.
