Representative Text

1 Are you discouraged and burdened with care?
Is your sky darkened by gloom and despair?
Be not disheartened, your Saviour is there,
Take a step nearer to Jesus!

Refrain:
Take a step nearer, nearer to Jesus!
He’s waiting just over the way,
He’s longing to bless you, His will now obey;
Just take a step nearer to Jesus.

2 Do you feel crushed by the Tempter today?
Are you afraid of the clouds o’er your way?
Be not dismayed—trust the Lord as your stay,
Take a step nearer to Jesus! [Refrain]

3 Jesus stands ready to shield you from harm,
Lean on His mighty, all powerful arm;
Safe in His keeping, no fears can alarm,
Take a step nearer to Jesus! [Refrain]
