Samuel

Representative Text

1 Asked of God, and lent unto him,
See the sweet, obedient child
Growing up to faithful boyhood,
Loving, gentle, pure and mild.
Like him may we be;
Teach us, Lord, to follow thee;
Like him may we be;
Teach us, Lord, to follow thee.

2 Diligent in loving service,
Prayerful judge, and prophet, too,
Long the man of God was honored,
Teaching Israel what to do.
Like him may we seek
Words of truth and love to speak;
Like him may we seek
Words of truth and love to speak.

3 As a wise and faithful ruler,
As a true and loyal man,
He fulfilled his heav'nly mission,
Which in childhood's days began.
Like him may we give
All to God while we shall live;
Like him may we give
All to God while we shall live.
