On the last Judgment

1 Behold the Lamb that once was slain
(Ah Lamb and Lion too)
Doth now a Judge in glory reign
To ev'ry creatures view.

2 His followers will rejoice to see
Their glorious friend appear,
Rising, from sins and sorrow free,
To meet him in the air.

3 Redeem'd from all the chains of sin,
From darkness doubts and fear,
With Jesus now to live and reign,
Ah! see the Lamb appear.

4 But Herod and his men of war,
And Pontius Pilot too,
Must trembling stand before the bar
With all their bloody crew.

5 His foes must stand in open sight,
Where nothing is conceal'd,
Their secret crimes brought forth to light,
And ev'ry thought reveal'd.

6 Depart ye curs'd, the Judge will say,
And go to your own place;
Long have I call'd, both night and day,
But you despis'd my grace.

7 And now your folly you must rue
In everlasting pain;
You had your choice, all I could do
Was lost and worse than vain.

8 Ah wretched souls! now drove away;
But where shall they retire?
Alas! alas! they fall a prey
To everlasting fire.
