Text Information

First Line: Behold the redeemer of men

Notes

Behold the Redeemer of man. [Passiontide.] This hymn, in 5 stanzas of 4 lines, is in Rowland Hill's Collection of Hymns for Children, &c, London, 1808. It is not in the previous editions of 1790 or 1794, and may possibly be by R. Hill. As, however, no authors' names are given in the collection, and no further evidence is forthcoming, its authorship cannot be determined. It is found in several modern hymnals for Sunday Schools, as in the Leeds Sunday School Hymn Book, 1832 to 1878, No. 49, and others. [William T. Brooke]
