Representative Text

1 Come, ye that do in Jesus dwell,
My Christian brethren, now, farewel;
Come part in peace, and part in love,
And sing and pray where're we rove.

2 Come wipe your tears, and leave your pains,
Do not lament while Jesus reigns;
For though in body we may part,
Yet we are still as nigh in heart.

3 And if to distant lands I go,
It is the jub'lee trup to blow;
O may my Jesus be with thee;
And when you're well, remember me.

4 And when I near my Master get,
Then I shall find you nigh my seat;
And we shall often meet as one,
When pleading at our Father's throne.

5 And if I never more return,
Do not for my long absence mourn;
For if I am but near my God,
Then all is well, though far abroad.

6 Since God is every where the same,
Then let us part to spread his fame:
Soon we shall end this mortal race;
Then all shall meet him face to face.

7 And Hallelujah then our song,
All sounding through the countless throng;
Jesus our God, that lovely name
Shall be our everlasting theme.
