Praise the Lord for the Promise

Representative Text

1 Dear to me is the word of God,
Shining light on my pilgrim road,
Word of life sent from heav’n above,
Message of mercy and love.

Praise the Lord for the promise ever true!
Praise the Lord for the promise ever new;
It is given from above, an expression of God’s love
To a world that’s in sin and need.

2 Ev’ry promise revealed to men,
ev’ry promise is yea, Amen!
Thro’ the years they shall all prevail;
Never shall one promise fail. [Refrain]

3 Word from heaven, O word of truth!
Hope of aged and guide of youth!
Thy commandments will we obey,
Walk in Thy counsels alway. [Refrain]

4 Lamp of life shine upon us still,
Ev’ry promise of love reveal,
Guide our feet in life’s pathway bright,
Up to yon fair land of light. [Refrain]
