1 Eternity! no mortal knows
The depth to which its meaning goes;
If only one each thousandth year
Of all the atoms of this sphere
Should go to nothingness for aye,
When thus this world should pass away,
Unmeasured even then would be
The ages of eternity.

2 If we on pinions could arise
And view God’s work in yonder skies,
