Representative Text

1 Ev’ry earthly sunrise has a sunset
When the darkness like a mantle falls;
But life’s day will have a different ending
‘Twill be glory when the Savior calls.

Refrain:
At the close of day there’ll be no sunset,
Only bright eternal dawn;
When I pass that way there’ll be no darkness,
Ev’ry shadow will be gone.
I will stand in heaven’s glory,
See at last what faith had known,
Join the voices crying “Holy!”
To the Lamb upon the throne.
So I walk life’s road with joy and gladness,
For the promise is so dear—
At the close of day there’ll be no sunset,
Only morning bright and clear.

2 So I’ll spend my life in faithful service,
Talking for the Master all the while,
Knowing that a rest awaits in heaven
When at last I’ve walked my final mile. [Refrain]

3 O it is a glorious contemplation—
Nothing in the future need I dread;
For the Lord has given full assurance,
There is only glory on ahead. [Refrain]
