Representative Text

1 Father, as the day is closing,
Hear us as we humbly pray;
May we ne’er forget the blessings,
Showered on us, Lord, today.

Refrain:
Fill our hearts with songs of gladness,
Make our lives of use to Thee,
And when life’s long journey’s over,
Bring us safely, Lord, to Thee.

2 Father, Thou art e’er forgiving,
When we from Thee, erring, stray;
May we then forgive our brothers,
Who have wronged us by the way. [Refrain]

3 Father, there are poor hearts longing
For one word to soothe their pain;
May we seek them out, and bring them
Back to hope and peace again. [Refrain]

4 Father, bending round Thine altar,
Consecrate our lives to Thee;
Guard us with Thy holy angels,
Till our days shall ended be. [Refrain]
